How We Operate

Before Club Night

Nominations must be entered into the Swim Club Connect App by 4pm Friday of Club night. The App is available on iOS and Google Play app stores

Children must be nominated for 25 metre events until they have met the qualifying times for longer distances.

If you have nominated for Club night and do not attend, aggregate points will be deducted (-1 per event) unless the nomination is removed from the event, or you have advised by email before 6:00pm Friday night.

On Club Night

Gates open at 5.45pm with a ‘free swim’ in the pool from 6:00 - 6:30pm. There is no entry fee, but we encourage you to buy a raffle ticket on entry. Racing starts at 6.30pm. If you haven’t attended before, a committee member can show you around, and explain how everything works.

All swimmers / parents should check the app to ensure all nominated events are listed on the program. Race result times are uploaded in realtime to the Swim Club Connect app throughout the night.

If you are on a ‘Free Trial’ night or would like to add an event after the nomination cut off, you will be placed in the “add-on” heat, which will be run at the end of each stroke. No times will be recorded in the App and aggregate points will not be accrued.

For younger children who are not yet able to swim the full 25 metre, a 12.5 metre race is run before the first heat of the night. Please advise at the front gate if you would like your child to swim this race. The Senior Swimmers will be in the pool for encouragement and assistance if needed (no times are recorded for this event).

The only thing that might be almost as good as the swim performances… is the BBQ! Hot Dogs, Steak Sandwiches and more… so have your dinner at the pool and help support the club. Parents can also nominate in the app to volunteer with timekeeping or the BBQ.

Qualifying Times

Qualifying times for upgrading from 25 metre to 50 metre events are under:

  • 23.00 seconds for Freestyle
  • 24.00 seconds for Butterfly
  • 28.00 seconds for Backstroke / Breaststroke

When these times have been achieved at least once on a club night, a swimmer should upgrade to the respective 50 metre event. It is the responsibility of the swimmer to request the upgrade.

A swimmer will not be allowed to swim in a 100 metre or 200 metre event unless they have swum at least the following times in the 50 metre events:

  • 48.00 seconds for Freestyle / Butterfly
  • 53.00 seconds for Backstroke
  • 58.00 seconds for Breaststroke

To be eligible to compete in the Individual Medley a swimmer must have qualified as follows:

  • 100 metre IM upgrade in 2 strokes from 25 metres to 50 metres
  • 200 metre IM upgrade in all 4 strokes from 25 metres to 50 metres and 100 IM time is 2:00 mins or less

The Committee may use discretion when upgrading and qualifying swimmers.

New members must swim a 25 metre time trial on the first occasion they swim in order to establish a base time. The base time will be used to assess whether the swimmer is qualified for 50 metre events.

Visiting swimmers may swim by invitation in 25 metre races only.
