About Us

In 1961 Roy and Judy Holland opened a 20 metre training pool at their home in Keats Street, Cannon Hill. In 1962 Father Kelly of the St Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church opened the 25 metre Stanton Street pool, which became home to the swim club, summer training squad, and carnival meets.

Roy Holland - Founder

In the same year Roy and Judy Holland began running a swim training squad known as the Cannon Hill Dolphins from their Keats street home.

Its name was changed in 1973 to the Cannon Hill Amateur Swimming Club and in 1974 the Cannon Hill Amateur Swimming Club was officially formed.

Roy, the father of legendary distance swimmer Stephan Holland, was a swim school pioneer in the Brisbane region and taught thousands of children how to swim.

In 1993, Roy retired and handed over the reins to his daughter Cathy. Hollands Swim School still has a strong presence and continues to service the community from the Keats Street home in Cannon Hill. Many of our members continue to train at Hollands.

We are forever grateful for the contribution of Roy Holland and the St Oliver Plunkett parish to our club and facilities. These days we are blessed to have further updated facilities including a newly renovated pool and deck, electronic timing, and BBQ area.
